Fiddle and Bow Country Dancers sponsors a contra dance on first and third Saturdays (with occasional date changes) in Greensboro, NC at the Guilford Grange.

Grange Dance Schedule - Greensboro

Admission is only $7, or $5 for full-time students under age 25.

Lesson at 7:30.    Dancing from 8:00 - 11:00


  • Feb 6 - Clay Buckner (of the Red Clay Ramblers), Ted Ehrhart (formerly of Footloose), and Julie Gorka, with Ruth Pershing calling. All from the Triangle.
  • Feb 20 - The Footloose Trio and caller Bree Kalb, all from the Triangle

  • March 6 - Cat Fight (Asheville) with caller Hank Morris (Black Mountain)
  • March 27 - Gene Hubert Memorial Dance. Gene Hubert founded the Dance at the Grange in the middle 80's, and called here many times. He also wrote numerous contras, which were published in several collections. His dances, known for their smooth flow, are commonly performed across the nation. We give tribute to Gene with a potluck dinner at 6:00pm, an introductory lesson at 7:30, from 8:00 to 11:00 doing his dances with music provided by The Elftones and calling by Gene's friend Robert Cromartie (with appearances by guest callers), and looking at videos and other memorabilia.

The Grange is located on Guilford School Road off Lindley Road. Traveling in either direction on I-40, take Exit 213, Guilford College Road. At the end of the ramp turn right and continue about a mile, until you cross railroad tracks and West Market Street. In 100 feet more, turn left to go north on Lindley Road. Go 0.4 mile, then turn right onto little Guilford School Road. The Grange is the last building on the right.

Despite what internet mapping sites may show, the section of Guilford School Road that includes the Grange is only accessible from Lindley Road. The Grange cannot be reached from College Road. With that in mind,
